Job role for joining Them2ucouriers.
Mon - Sat delivery driver (Full Time) Reporting at Yodel depot (Middleton) between 6am - 9am, you'll collect your parcel cage and spend up to 2 hours scanning and loading parcels from between 30 and 130 stops depending on volume.
The route is already planned out but you can change the order of each stop if you think its more optimal.
Then you deliver the parcels around the route using your own hand held device(smart phone with yodel delivery app installed)
The route planning software knows how long it takes to drive from stop 1 to stop 2 to stop 3 and so on. You can set the amount of time you want to actually make the delivery ( 3 minutes is average for someone new). Using this precise timing, the customer receives a two hour delivery window for their parcel. Because of how precise the times are, its very easy to complete 20 deliveries per hour.
All stops are close together, all in one or adjoining postcodes that are close together. The full time driver will be on the same route each day so there's opportunity to become faster with each week.
For example start at 6am and most days you could be home for 3pm and thats with 100 deliveries/stops.this is easily achievable Remeber the precise timing? You know your finish time before leaving the depot so sometimes your last delivery could be 1pm but you have collection(van drivers route only) at 2pm so you can put an hour break into your day where ever you like. If you only want to do 8 hour days, this isn't for you but very rarely you'll go over ten hours.only in (peak periods end of October - end of December) where you may be required to do a 7 day week
Once you've completed your deliveries, you head back the depot to unload any undelivered items, if home courier route (own vehicle) you may return home with any left over parcels to be taken out next day
There may be undelivered you can't just dump a parcel and leg it. It has to be accepted properly, this protects you and you wont be sacked for parcels going missing. You are liable for any parcels/items that you have scanned onto your hand held device which if a claim is submitted against you and successful will be recovered from you or your wages and if as a result of theft may result with the relevant authorities being called .
The van is supplied FREE OF CHARGE.
Payment is £0.85-£1.00 and £0.40 second upto 4th per delivery(van route only) and is on a self employed basis so you pay your own tax and national insurance. So let's work this out for the full time driver. Averaging 110 deliveries per day, thats £2224 (not taking into account second parcel) in the bank every 4 weeks on initial start and 2 weeks thereafter paid in arrears like with most jobs. For the Home courier route role(own vehicle),£0.80 per stop and £0.40 second upto 4th parcel expect to earn around £800+ depending on how many parcel successfully delivered and is on a self employed basis so you pay your own tax and national insurance. So the more you deliver the more you earn.
